It is difficult to turn on the television or open a newspaper without being bombarded with headlines regarding the collapse of our environment. Whether the bad news is about global warming (climate change) or yet another toxic waste site, one thing that seems clear that the state of the global environment will get worse before it gets better. In addition, the costs required to fix these problems will be astronomical. Who will fund these solutions???

Information regarding the emerging technologies designed to alleviate these problems is not well publicized. Articles on emerging companies inventing and marketing products such as CO2 sequesters and solar groundwater pumps are buried in trade journals and science magazines. Many of these start-up companies will survive long enough to bring their environment-enhancing products to market, and many will not.
